This whimsical comedy is inspired by the fable of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, one of the most famous and enduring tales of the Arabian Nights. The film stars incomparable comedic actor Ismail Yassin, Abdulsalam El-Nabulsi, and Mahmoud Farag in the unforgettable role of the magical Genie. In this modern retelling of the fable, a meek and put-upon errand boy discovers a magic lamp and is granted seven wishes, which he uses to comically turn around his life. Directed by Fatin Abdulwahhab, this was one of the first Egyptian films to use sophisticated special effects.
The colorful and fanciful imagery of this poster beautifully portray the comic spirit of the film. Yassin, as the errand boy, is depicted at the moment of his discovery of the Genie, who materializes from the smoky magical fumes of the lamp. The style ideally captures the whimsy and majesty of this groundbreaking film.
