Written on the Forehead - مكتوب على الجبين

$720.00 $900.00

Huda Sultan plays a faithful wife who is having difficulty becoming pregnant with her husband. Her mother-in-law urges her son to find a new wife, and her brother-in-law attempts to assault her. When she finally does become pregnant, her husband is suspicious that he may not be the father. Imad Hamdy, Hussein Riyad, and Farid Shawqi also star in this film from director Ibrahim Imara, who was known for making poignant social dramas in the 1940s and 1950s.

Artist Ragheb is the designer of this scarce poster that was created using the rare photo-lithograph method. The dominant black & white style reflects the solemn themes, with Huda captured in a moment of vulnerability at the feet of Shawqi's ruthless character. Huda's sad face appears again looming in the background. “Written on the forehead” is a popular phrase that speaks to a person's unavoidable destiny, which suggests several of the story's twists.
