This dramatic film (literal translation: “The Axe Has Hit the Head”) stars Ezzat El-Alaili as Nagaoui, a poor but popular village man who ferries passengers across the Nile each day. He is in love with the beautiful Sa'diya (played by Laila Elwi), although her family is against marriage and others in the village are jealous of him. When another villager tries to rape Sa'diya, she pushes him to his death and more complications ensue for the star-crossed lovers. The film also stars Abdullah Mahmoud, Wael Nour and Abla Kamel.
The poster's designer, the artist Mortada, evokes a style that hearkens back to the previous decade, including a very clean, photorealistic look. El-Alaili is pictured steering his boat, in traditional dress, while Elwi is herself shown in clothes of a rural, but very elegant style. She's also shown in a moment of terror, and the other stars of the film are displayed in cameos at bottom. The overall impression is very dramatic and crisp, well-preserved with perfect image quality.
