Aida - عايدة

$875.00

One of the earlier examples of the culturally significant Egyptian musical genre, this film stars Umm Kulthum and singer Ibrahim Hammoudah and is directed by Ahmed Badrakhan, who is famous for having a hand in some of the best musicals of the period. Aida is a beautiful but naive country girl who dreams of coming to the big city to perform in a production of composer Verdi's iconic operetta.

This poster was designed by respected poster artist Abdulrahman and released, according to our analysis, between 1958 and 1962. The image is in a gloriously bright and appealing golden color. Aida is depicted in bold blue and red dress inspired by a range of authentic garb from ancient Egypt. Almost wholly unique among Egyptian film posters, the imagery is inspired by ancient Egypt and a scene from the operetta. The vivid hues and unique imagery are particularly striking.
