The Intruder - الدخيل

$360.00 $450.00

A traveling salesman named Zaki (played by Mahmoud El-Meligy, famous as one of the great villains of the Egyptian screen) falls ill in a small village and sends for his daughter Fitna (the incomparably beautiful Layla Fawzi) to care for him. The illness is a ruse, however, and the father and daughter set the villagers against one another in order to more easily seize their properties. This film was directed by Nour El-Demerdash and is from the era when the industry was undergoing a transition to public-sector produced films; it's often represented that the film carries a hidden political message about the creation of Israel in Palestine.

The poster is from artist Izzat and is one of the very few film posters he created. The barbed wire framing device symbolizes the theme of division and the gradual shift of colors from green to red represents the story's journey from tranquil pastoralism to heated conflict. Dramatic scenes of confrontation are highlighted at top and bottom.
