The Emperor - الامبراطور

$260.00 $325.00

The one-and-only Ahmed Zaki stars in this film inspired by “Scarface,” in the title role as a man who escapes to Cairo to find work, only to be drawn into the seedy criminal underworld. He climbs the ladder of organized crime to become one of the most successful heroin smugglers in Egypt, however once he becomes addicted to his own product, he begins to eliminate those closest to him.

The design of this film poster, by the artist Anwar, takes its cues from classic Hollywood examples of the time, including that of “Scarface.” Zaki is the focal point, holding a gun and appearing to contemplate the murder of the other characters who surround him. Their emotional expressions show the drama and turbulence at the heart of this tale of the fall of a crime lord. The black and white background spaces suggest the stark conflicts throughout the story, and the red lettering promises that there will be blood.
