Mahmoud (played by veteran actor Mahmoud Yassin) is desperate to end the escalating rivalry between his family and another: his final act is to present his own burial shroud to the rival family to end the blood feud. When that fails to resolve the issue, he leaves with his family and relocates to another village, to begin a new life. To his dismay, he discovers that he's walked his family into a new battle, and now they're part of a quest for social justice and the resolution of a stolen inheritance. This film also stars the legendary Farid Shawqy and Safia El-Emari.
A collage of illustrations make this poster really stand out for the drama and attractiveness of the imagery. Yassin takes center stage, dramatically cradling his own burial shroud, as others look on: Shawqy from the top, El-Emari and some of the younger cast beside him. The soldiers who are called on to stop the fighting appear as a framing device, and the village graveyard beneath a clear blue sky provides a compelling backdrop. The style is very crisp and colorful – this is an ideal collectible for anyone who is passionate about films that address social issues in rural Egypt.
