This is the second Egyptian adaptation of this story, following the original in 1941. Starring Farid Shawqi (“King of the Third Class”), iconic actress Shadia, and Layla Fawzi (a Miss Egypt winner), in this classic tale an unfaithful wife abandons her newborn son in the desert, leaving him with only a magical charm for protection. The betrayed husband remarries and has a daughter, setting in motion a timeless fable of star-crossed lovers and fated families.
The darkened background of this poster hints at the elements of subterfuge and conspiracy in the story, while the bright colors of the characters and lettering create a feeling of energy and vibrant life. Shadia gazes out from the poster lovingly, and key images from the film are depicted. The style highlights the glamour and artistry of the Egyptian cinema, in its heyday at the time of the film's release.
