Acclaimed Egyptian cinema star Ahmed Zaki transforms into yet another compelling character, this time as Abdulsamea, a man who comes to Cairo in search of a better life. When he finds a job as a doorman in a wealthy neighborhood, he immediately begins to scheme his way to riches. Each new wealthy acquaintance he makes, including characters played by Fouad El-Mohandes, Mohamed Reda and Safia El-Emari is another opportunity to control the lives of those he is supposedly working for.
This colorful film poster winningly portrays the clash of characters between Zaki, shown in Upper-Egyptian dress within a framing negative space shaped like a door, and the wealthy people he preys upon, arranged observing him with expressions of confusion, suspicion, and utter bafflement. The imagery is wonderfully evocative and vibrant, and suggests the complex interplay of relationships in this captivating film.
