Iconic singer-actress Umm Kulthum's final film is one of her most beloved. Anwar Wagdi plays Fathi, a man from an aristocratic family who falls in love with a nurse of humble means, named Fatmah. When his family withdraws his inheritance to protest the relationship, he abandons the now-pregnant Fatmah and marries another woman who meets their approval.

This melodrama was a cultural sensation on its release in Egypt and the tender, emotional performance by Umm Kulthum confirmed her transcendent talent.
