Ghawar's Empire - امبراطورية غوار

$395.00 $495.00

This Syrian political comedy that pokes fun at the idea of liberators becoming the dictators they despise features beloved comedian Duraid Lahham in the lead role. A humble man living in Damascus leads a revolt against the local thugs who rule the neighborhood. When he succeeds and becomes leader in their place, he himself devolves into a tyrant. Hani El-Roumany and Mohamad Halwany also star. The story is from writer Zakaria Tamer and this is the final film in the career of Syrian director Marwan Akkawi.

In this poster designed by renowned Syrian fine artist Najdat Kalaaji, Duraid Lahham is unmistakable at center in traditional tarboosh hat and colorful shirt and tie. His neighbors cheer him in surrounding cameos, and the images are framed within a wreath of wheat. This beautiful film collectible radiates warmth and color, with sharp images that perfectly place the poster within its era.
