This is the second Egyptian adaptation of this story, following the original in 1941. Starring “King of the Third Class” Farid Shawqi, beloved singer-entertainer Shadia, and former Miss Egypt winner Layla Fawzi, in this classic tale an unfaithful wife abandons her newborn son in the desert, leaving him with only a magical charm for protection. The betrayed husband remarries and has a daughter, setting in motion a timeless fable of star-crossed lovers and fated families.
The fantasy themes of the story and the inspired drama and romance are captured lovingly in the skilled artistry and vivid colors of this striking poster. The lovely Hayat (portrayed by Shadia) gazes down in a manner that's beautifully solemn, elegant, and stoic, and the dramatic backdrop sets the stage for a tale of intrigue and destiny. The title's brilliant calligraphy is inspired by the graceful curves and lines of classic Islamic architecture.
