This Syrian-Egyptian production stars acclaimed Syrian actor Nihad Qalei and Egyptian actress Shadia, in the story of a tailor who specializes in men's clothing. His wife struggles to talk him out of his old-fashioned ways and put his talent to use creating women's clothing. Her insistence begins to open his eyes to the burdens that women bear in society at large. Story and screenplay were written by Qalei for director Atef Salem. This was the first role for actress Shadia in a Syrian film and another prominent collaboration of the Syrian comedy duo, Duraid Lahham and Nihad Qalei.
This poster accompanied the film's release in Egypt and was designed by Iraqi artist Kanaan Wasfi, who was also a talented actor, singer, and composer. The illustration includes a humorous rendering of Qalei atop his tailoring scissors, with Shadia looking on from above. The film is an interesting examination of evolving social understanding in the late '60s and this poster is an important collectible that documents this dramatic period.
