Safar Barlek, Style B - سفر برلك

Caught in the turmoil of the early days of World War I are young Lebanese lovers Adla (singer-entertainer Fairuz in one of her iconic roles) and Abdo (played by Ihsan Sadeq). Their betrothal is interrupted when he is captured by Ottoman soldiers and interned at a brutal work camp. Adla joins with relatives in the local resistance and together they hatch a plot to foil the Ottoman's plans and free her beloved Abdo.

This poster is a design by Egyptian artist Ragheb, from the later part of his storied career, and demonstrates a more minimalist style that is suitable as a décor piece in almost any setting. Fairuz, in an elegant closeup, dominates the image with a look that is contemplative and searching: it's the face the entire Arab world fell in love with. Rampaging Ottoman soldiers are shown in a smaller cameo image, and the titles are rendered in crimson and blue colors that really pop.
